Youth

(April 2026: This page is under construction; please be sure to check back for additional resources and updates.)

Transgender children exist. Trans kids are valid. We fight for their right to feel safe and included. Some quick info:

No age is too early explore gender. A common misconception is that youth should be hidden from transgender topics on grounds that it is a “sexual thing,” but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Gender is a facet of self-awareness and a positive sign of someone realizing who she, he, or they are. There will always be someone out there who sees and supports you for who you are.

Trans and other gender-expansive youth are seeing a demographic pop in representation, largely due to growing up at a time when the queer rights movement in the U.S. has led to various legal victories, progressive cultural support, and an increase in widespread education.

Another misconception is that transgender youth do not exist: this is false. The idea is often perpetuated in discriminatory environments that encourage conversion therapy or bullying of vulnerable people. Trans kids exist all over America and often grow up to be fearless, powerful, and empathetic individuals who unfortunately understand the struggles of others.

Trans youth are extra vulnerable because they are often entirely at the mercy of their household for support and acceptance. Runaway youth in America or those kicked out are disproportionately queer, often due to abuse or neglect in their original home. Conversion therapy still remains the default in many parts of the country.

America’s children are the future, and that includes trans and gender-diverse kids. You deserve a supportive place just like everyone else does.
