Every year, Trans Unity Coalition Action Fund (TUCAF) visits DC to educate our lawmakers on all things trans rights. Our attendees also learn the process of how to effectively grassroots lobby for rights of all kind. These opportunities are free, and we invite our community and allies to join us when they can.

We understand that not everyone can make it to DC (work, school, duties, cost…) and this creates an unequal misrepresentation of just how much America supports trans community. Because trans voices are not adequately represented in our government, this creates a gap in what our lawmakers think they know, and what they really don’t.

Trans Unity Coalition has the opportunity to bridge this gap by bringing constituent voices directly to Congress, and we do this in multiple ways. Here, we will meet with your members of Congress and have them listen to your responses to key trans issues. If you give us permission, we will also follow up with you to relay what is said, any pledges made, and our professional impression of what they are saying.

Please begin verbally saying:

1) Your name,

2) Pronouns, and

3) Your Congressional District (state & number, e.g. CA-01) OR the name of your U.S. Representative (Congressional, not state assembly).

Then, answer all questions above. Aim for one minute per answer, which will provide enough time to explain the why to flesh out your response.

In total, your recording should be about 3 to 3.5 minutes long. Upload below. Please provide an email address if you would like our team to contact you to discuss your elected representative’s official response to your message.

We accept most common file formats for audio, such as .mp3, .aac, .m4a, and more. Video works too, but we will only play your voice for listening, in order to protect your identity.

If you reside in the U.S. (including D.C. and Puerto Rico, which have non-voting representation), someone represents your part of the country at the Congressional level. These people hold legislative and political power, but still need to hear what your issues are to effectively address them in session.

Every state has two U.S. Senators. All Senators comprise the entire U.S. Senate.

Every state is also broken into (usually) multiple districts each served by a U.S. Representative. (Some states like Wyoming or Vermont only have one!)

Lobbying Training Opportunities: Thank you for following our past workshops and activities! We host educational events to develop various public-facing skills such as lawmaker engagement, public speaking, policy influence, and group leadership. As a national-to-local scope nonprofit, we employ a unique blend of training mediums to ensure no trans person anywhere in our country can be turned away from their opportunity to learn.

Past Training Events: Some past efforts have included US Congressional trans rights education, Michigan State Capitol accurate document bills, fighting Ohio Statehouse budget bills, and more.
