At the start of 2025, when Trump enacted a new federal set of policies, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cut funding for research focused on most culturally-progressive needs. Transgender and LGBTQ+ research was part of that.
Since then, the US government, largely via .gov websites such as whitehouse.gov, nih.gov (which now uses AI-generated info), or usda.gov have embraced an anti-intellectual or evangelical agenda to effectively subsidize real science and impose a chilling effect on academia and non-evangelical ways of thinking.
Our TransTruth team has multiple goals. First, to continue gender-affirming research, which was an area of study before conservative politic cut it off. Second, to provide scientific resources regarding the trans community to laypeople, including explanation or education. And third, to push for intellectual literacy and education beyond just queer needs.
